Job Opening – Operations Support

Ready to bring all operational knowledge of the non-profit (NP) landscape, to become an intergral part of our operations team? Work alongside the Executive Director, participate in and contribute to marketing, social media, operations, finance, and strategy discussions. Here is an ideal role for someone looking to pursue a career in NP management. You will have an opportunity to engage with our outstanding board and team of advisors with a voice to make a real difference.

Passionate about making a real impact in our community? Are you looking to expand your  knowledge to help in building your work experience?    The Media Foundation would love for you to bring your energy and insight to a fast growing non-profit in SW Portland (Beaverton). Your efforts will create a real difference in social, economic, and educational areas, helping our growing list of non-profit partners. You will also get hands on experience working within the structure of a non-profit organization to help build your portfolio.  These are non-paid positions with a three month requirement. We are currently seeking highly motivated college and/or graduate students to assist us with the following internships:

 

Volunteer Engagement

Enjoy making new friends? Do you thrive on reaching out and engaging groups of people? At The Media Foundation, our volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization. You’ll be supporting our volunteer engagement team in responding to, recruiting, hosting, and maintaining our diverse, rapidly growing population of dedicated volunteers.  

Position Details:  Juniors, Seniors and new graduates with a minimum 3.00 GPA; available to work 10-15 hours per week in our Beaverton office for the duration of Summer Term. All majors encouraged to apply.   Stipend available.

Striving for a career in nonprofit management?  Enjoy seeing the big picture and participating in a variety of tasks? In supporting the efforts of our Executive Director, you will have the opportunity to participate in every aspect of the operation. Bring your attention to detail, your resourcefulness, and experience in financial management to make a significant impact in our day-to-day business operations.

Position Details:  Juniors, Seniors and new graduates with a minimum 3.00 GPA;  available to work 10-15 hours per week in our Beaverton office for the duration of Summer Term.  All majors encouraged to apply.   Stipend available.

TMFbutton-09  Web Developer/Flash Animation

Get energy from creating, building, and sculpting digital interfaces? Your creative genius will greet our potential volunteers, donors, and partners. You are part information architect, content strategist, and artist. Bring your magic to update the look and feel of our website, incorporate some of the new plugins being evaluated, and assist in the creation and introduction of multimedia content to the site.

Position Details:  Juniors, Seniors and new graduates with a minimum 3.00 GPA;  available to work 10-15 hours per week in our Beaverton office for the duration of Summer Term.  All majors encouraged to apply. 

TMFbutton-09  I.T. Support

Have a natural understanding of computer systems, networking, and communications?  Do you enjoy troubleshooting PCs and hardware maintenance? Use your ability to diagnose, repair, and upgrade (sometimes replace) PCs. You are proficient at email tools (i.e., list-serve, survey generation, etc.), and setting up and maintaining PC networks and databases. You will be working in a dynamic environment in our Beaverton office.

Position Details:  Juniors, Seniors and new graduates with a minimum 3.00 GPA;  available to work 10-15 hours per week in our Beaverton office for the duration of Summer Term.  All majors encouraged to apply. 

TMFbutton-09  Community Partner Liaison

Bring your passion and insight to cultivate, qualify, and fund emerging nonprofits in the greater Portland area. You are personable, responsive and resourceful. Your role? Develop relationships with a number of nonprofits whose vision is much greater than their checkbook balance. Spearhead the introduction and implementation of best practices in online and offline communications in the nonprofit community. You will understand the impact, sustainability, and measurable results that an additional $800 per month, in operating capital, would have on a small nonprofit. Help us give some money to deserving nonprofits!

Position Details:  Juniors, Seniors and new graduates with a minimum 3.00 GPA;  available to work 10-15 hours per week in our Beaverton office for the duration of Summer Term.  All majors encouraged to apply. 

TMFbutton-09  Online Store/Marketplace Support

Ready to step into one of the fastest growing online stores on the West Coast? When you placed that order on Amazon or eBay you may have discovered some of the unique challenges with making an online purchase (and overall experience). You’ll be interfacing with leading online merchants, introducing best practices to our operations and playing a key role in facilitating our rapid growth. You will also be supporting our increasing number of volunteers in processing CDs, DVDs, vinyl, console games, Blu Ray discs and books.

Position Details:  Juniors, Seniors and new graduates with a minimum 3.00 GPA;  available to work 10-15 hours per week in our Beaverton office for the duration of Summer Term.  All majors encouraged to apply.

Are Facebook, Twitter and SnapChat among your favorite apps? Love searching the web for interesting stories and reposting articles? Are you among the first to know about new video releases and emerging trends? Bring all your online savvy to support our outreach efforts, while attracting and interacting with our volunteers and our nonprofit partners. Increase our visibility, volunteer engagement, partner interaction, and website traffic by leveraging all the current social media tools. You have a keen eye for detail, enjoy writing, and can summarize your ideas into 140 characters. You love getting your hands on new applications and technology, to communicate more effectively and efficiently.

Good with people?  Do you stay calm and collected even when everyone else around you is losing their cool?  Your friends describe you a good listener, and you are the go-to for family and friends when they have a problem that needs your help. If you are self-directed, resourceful, determined and have a certain finesse for conflict resolution, we need to talk.
